This is the sixth triennial symposium to be sponsored by the interagency Ship Structure Committee and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
In recent years, structural maintenance and inspection have generated a great deal of interest. It is timely, therefore, that those engaged in the design, construction, and operation of marine structures, participate and have discussions in these areas of interst at an open forum. This symposium brings together various members of the marine community, including shipowners, operators, builders, researchers, government agencies and classification societies to discuss recent developments in marine structural inspection, maintenance and monitoring. The technical papers that comprise the program cover a range of topics related to aging structures, design standards, hull response monitoring, inspection, and implications for new construction.
The symposium committee formed panel sessions of experts to have open discussions on aging structures and design standards.
Sincerely,
Glenn M. Ashe
