Ship Structure Committee Symposiums

One way the committee achieves its' mission stated on the home page of this website, along with fulfilling its' goals of (1) identifying gaps in structural knowledge and develop a plan to bridge the gap, and (2)addressing today's ship structural performance and safety assessment issues is by holding SSC Symposiums.

Why do we have Symposiums?

The SSC utilizes the symposiums as a medium to address any newly recognized causes of structural failure. The symposium also gathers together the various members of the international marine industry to discuss how the new cause impacts the marine structures.

How often do we have symposiums?

We started out conducting symposiums tri-annually; however, due to budget restraints and our desire to broaden our customer base, we decided to minimize our several day symposium to a single day and attach it to an international symposium. SSC Symposium 2007 was held in conjunction with the 10th International PRADS 2007 Symposium in Houston, TX.

Symposium Links

Below are links to various symposia pages, each symposium link contains an introduction and a link to the agenda page that lists each individual SSC paper that was presented at the symposium.

In addition to our online database of SSC published research reports, we have available the following CDs:

  • 60th Anniversary Ship Structure Committee Published Reports (1996-2006)
  • 2000 Ship Structure Symposium

If you would like to receive any of the CDs listed free of charge, please send an email request with your mailing address to the SSC Admin. Asst.
