Criteria for Determining Fracture Repair Procedures

Overview:

A description of the project's background, objective, scope, expectations and deliverables.

The goal of SSC SR-1459 is to develop a comprehensive and usable steel hull fracture repair guide to assist marine repair professionals in evaluating the correct repair procedure for steel ship hull fractures. The project team will analyze the current practice of fracture repairs and conduct a technical review of industry standards and recommendations put out by organizations to include but not limited to ABS, USCG, IACS, TSCF and SSC. The project will include a review and engineering analysis of common structural failures and particular case studies identified by the PTC. The final report is expected to provide information and additional studies that can lead to revision of the US Coast Guard.s NVIC 7-68 .Notes on Inspection and Repair of Steel Hulls.
